Double celebrations for Safestyle UK at the G07 Awards as the country’s leading independent replacement window and door retailer scoops yet another major prize.

Held at the Birmingham’s Metropole Hotel, the high profile G Awards are open on an annual basis to all organisations in the glass,glazing and fenestration industries and aim to highlight and reward excellence in twelve different categories.

Following hot on the heels of last year's G06 Customer Care Award, this year Safestyle UK were nominated and short-listed for two further top awards - the Health and Safety Initiative Award and the highly prestigious Installer of the Year Award. More than 500 industry members applauded as Safestyle UK overcame all competition to come away as resounding winners in both categories.

Safestyle UK’s Chairman, John Ross, commented: "We have won several awards in recent years but these latest honours are particularly important. We complete more than 800 installations every week - that’s a lot of installations! So we’re continually working hard and looking for ways to improve effectiveness and efficiency of our operations. Awards like these are important because they show our work is being recognised by the industry and more importantly, they go a long way towards acknowledging and rewarding all the effort our guys are putting in to make sure Safestyle’s performance is second to none."

The Installer of the Year Award was presented to Safestyle in recognition of the tremendous work that has gone into making one of the largest installation operations in the industry into one of the slickest and most efficient. This includes Safestyle’s recent measures to get their procedures BSI accredited - a process that is well on its way with one installations depot already having met all BSI standards and requirements. The award was collected by Andy Clegg, Head of Safestyle UK Installations.

To win the Health and Safety award, the Safestyle UK team specifically designed tailor-made packs and initiatives for each department in the company to ensure complete understanding of all health and safety rules and requirements. One of the proactive measures taken was to increase the safety of their female staff by providing free panic alarms. The award was collected by Gary Hoyle, Safestyle UK’s Health and Safety manager.

This is the fourth high-profile award in three years that Safestyle has received, including the G05 Promotional Campaign of the Year and G06 Customer Care Award.

Safestyle Customer Care wins industry award

Safestyle UK has followed last year’s G05 Promotional Campaign of the Year Award with nominations for three awards - Best Customer Care, the Installer of the Year and Promotional Campaign of the Year. More than 500 industry members at the Birmingham Metropole Hotel applauded as Safestyle UK overcame stiff national competition to come out on top in the much coveted Customer Care category.

The Style Group's chief executive, John Ross, commented: "Our Group has won several awards in recent years but this latest honour for customer care is one any company would regard as extremely important. Recently we received BSI accreditation for Customer Service but that will not stop us from continuing to invest heavily on training and new technology to ensure we continue to develop our customer care and service records even further.

"To be nationally recognised as bucking the trend in an industry that traditionally has a poor public image shows we are on the right track. We now implement a most demanding and high quality training programme for all staff and this award is the result. However, we will not rest on our laurels and will ensure our record continues as second to none."

FENSA perfect for second successive year

For the second successive year the Style Group UK, the United Kingdom’s largest independent replacement window and door company, has been awarded a 100 per cent Building Regulations pass record by the Government approved Fenestration Self-Assessment Scheme (FENSA) for its installations.

The perfection award not only emphasises the continuous and impressive growth of the Group and its subsidiaries – the high profile retail element, Safestyle UK, and the all important production side, Windowstyle UK – but reflects strongly on the high quality of its products and its installation teams throughout the United Kingdom.

The FENSA scheme has been set up by the Glass and Glazing Federation with Government approval to ensure the industry complies with new Building Regulations requiring all installations of windows and doors to meet demanding thermal performance standards. All homeowners who have windows and doors replaced must ensure they get a certificate from their Local Authority Building Control or have the work completed by a FENSA-registered company such as the Style Group’s Safestyle UK subsidiary.

To ensure the installations meet and maintain the standards set out, samples of the work of every installer are inspected regularly and at random by FENSA who then inform the Local Authority and issue the Certificate which is particularly important if and when properties are sold on. Areas covered include correct and approved use of safety glass, strict thermal standards and no worsening of functional requirement of the property.

Style Group’s Chief Executive, John Ross, explained: “We are all very proud of achieving the perfect result from FENSA inspections for a second successive year because it undoubtedly reflects our ability to continually produce only the highest quality window and door systems backed up by installation teams who, we believe, are the very best in the industry. It also clearly underlines our determination to continue the development of our unbeatable customer care and service record.”

Andy Clegg, the Head of Survey and FENSA Co-ordinator at Safestyle UK, added: “This is a fantastic achievement when you consider that for the second year in succession we have come through with a 100 per cent pass rate on all installations inspected despite the very demanding criteria set by FENSA and the Government.

“Our success is down to the skill and enthusiasm shown by all, from sales to installation. They are now preparing to increase their efforts even further to ensure that a hat-trick of inspections is achieved in the coming year.”
