A new project to build a large number of environmentally-friendly properties in Merseyside has been approved by planning authorities.
The project to regenerate North Huyton has been backed by authorities and as a result construction work will begin on 1,450 new homes, at a cost of £200 million, this autumn.
According to Northern Housing, the development's first phase will see 391 properties established, using the latest high specification timber frame construction materials to ensure that they all meet the Eco-homes standard.
Commenting on the project, Steve Coffey, director of regeneration at Knowsley Housing Trust said: This is an important milestone in the history of North Huyton."
Mr Coffey added: "We are really looking forward to starting work alongside our partners to deliver not only new homes, but also an exciting new future for the community."
The project is being undertaken by Knowsley Housing Trust in conjunction with Knowsley Council and North Huyton New Deal for Communities, along with Revive, the umbrella organisation of developers that will carry out the work.
