A top academic in Hong Kong has highlighted the benefits of double glazing to the energy-efficiency of a property.
Dr Sam Hui Chun-man is an expert in building services energy-efficiency and green building research at Hong Kong University and told China's Standard newspaper that double glazing is ideal for a climate like Hong Kong's, where hot summers are followed by cold winters.
"They are very useful for Hong Kong, especially in the summer, because they can admit the light without the heat," he said.
He added that double-glazed windows are capable of saving between 30 and 60 per cent of energy compared with clear glass, depending on the material used.
Mr Hui's comments come after the Energy Saving Trust advised people in the UK who work from home that they can save up to 50 per cent of the heat lost through windows by upgrading to double glazing.
To make a home or a workplace warmer, quieter and less expensive to heat, why not invest in double glazing.
