Recent reports that the price of a home information pack (Hip) could be as much as £1,000 are wide of the mark, according to the Association of Home Information Pack Providers (Ahipp).
From June 1st, all homeowners looking to sell their property will need to have a Hip before they can put it on the market.
Mike Ockenden, director general of Ahipp, has moved to assuage fears that Hips will cost up to £1,000, asserting that no single provider is selling them at this price.
"The actual figure will be between £300 to £400, inclusive of the cost of an energy performance certificate, in some cases regardless of whether the title is registered or unregistered," he said.
Last month, Mr Ockenden claimed that the introduction of Hips will make the process of selling a home smoother and less stressful.
