Plans for luxury green homes outside Bath have been unveiled by ZedFactory.
Architects' website BD Online reported the announcement of the Bath Springs building, which measures 700 square metres and has four floors and a laminated timber frame.
It has planning permission and will be a family home for local businessman Andrew Mercer.
The house's green credentials include integrated solar hot water panels, low-flush toilets, rainwater storage, a wind turbine, a wood pellet boiler and wind cowls for ventilation.
There is also a passive solar façade for insulation.
Architectural assistant Edwina Bland, who heads the project, said the design had taken into consideration "the whole life cycle of materials".
She said the construction would generate more renewable energy during its lifetime than was used to make it.
Ballyconnelly Developments in Scotland has launched a range of three-bedroom, family green homes in Dunoon, reports the Glasgow Daily Record.
Houses in its Enkelt Living brand are 95 per cent recycled materials and the carbon footprint caused by their creation is offset by planting trees.
