Some of Birmingham's social housing residents are set to benefit from a new £16 million green homes makeover, it has been reported.
Work is underway on 116 properties that will form Birmingham city council's first sustainable housing development, according to 24dash.com.
The Black Country Housing Group and the local authority will transform Warnock estate into the city's biggest eco homes site with regeneration specialist Lovell.
Chris King, regional director for Lovell told the website: "We are excited to be a part of this innovative development scheme which will see a huge area in Warstock regenerated to the highest standards incorporating cutting-edge green technology."
Work is expected to be completed in 2010 on the development which will feature thermal insulation, wind turbines, low energy lighting, solar panels and efficient heating appliances.
In other green homes news, it was reported last week the Dumbiedykes estate located next to the Scottish Parliament has received a £3.4 million home improvements makeover.
