Britons' desires to improve their own homes have now led to homeowners simultaneously improving their own skills around the household, a new study has revealed.
Research from Yahoo! Answers has noted that over nine in ten of those surveyed said they wanted to improve their DIY skills, with 48 per cent similarly enthused when it comes to home improvements or gardening abilities.
When it comes to professions it is doctors and nurses who most want to turn their hand to their own homes, with estate agents the most eager to improve their DIY efforts, perhaps because one in five were aware of the financial benefits of home improvements.
The study comes as property experts have advised that improvements may be financially sound investments given the current housing market climate.
"Young people want to add as much value as they can to their first homes[…] if house price growth slows, this may be the best way to buck the trend," advised Birmingham Midshires' director of mortgages Tim Hague.
