Gordon Brown's proposed eco homes settlements are facing stiff opposition from local residents in Warwickshire's countryside, it has been reported.
A site dubbed Middle Quinton near the village of Long Marston is being opposed by resident's group Better Accessible and Responsible Development (Bard) in the form of a legal challenge.
The eco-town would be part of the government's proposed solution to the housing shortage which will build three million new homes nationwide by 2020.
Bard comprising of local residents including publishing millionaire Felix Dennis and a number of QCs, political strategists, planning consultants and MPs hopes to prove the government's consultation period is flawed.
Housing Minister Caroline Flint defended the green homes plan last month after shadow housing minister Grant Shapps branded the eco homes initiative a "farce" during a commons debate.
Gordon Brown kicked off his term in office as prime minister last year by pledging to create 100,000 green homes to be built in 15 eco-towns.
