Vulnerable homeowners in Rotherham are being encouraged to save money and the environment via a new insulation scheme.
Individuals over the age of 70 and people on certain benefits can avail of the Save 'n' Warm initiative, which is operated through a local energy efficiency advice centre.
As well as receiving instructions on how to reduce heating bills, such households may be eligible for free cavity wall and loft insulation.
Local councillor Ken Wyatt pointed out that officials also hope to help the environment and improve air quality through carbon reduction.
"The Save 'n' Warm scheme provides discounted rates for a range of insulation measures," he confirmed.
Mr Wyatt noted that such initiatives are more important than ever in the face of rising fuel prices.
Campaigners in Southampton also recently called for authorities in their area to boost homeowners' access to double glazed doors and replacement windows in a bid to ward off increasing incidences of fuel poverty.
Double glazing windows and doors can increase the value of your property, as well as saving you money on your heating bills. Take a look at some of the Energy Efficiency-certified windows and doors on the Safestyle website.
