A Dorset housing association has revealed that some of its new eco homes have received an 'excellent' rating from officials.
Magna Housing Association and its contractor, Rok, were given the accreditation by the Housing Corporation as a result of the energy-saving features of Bridport's green homes, including high levels of insulation and protection against noise pollution.
Additional characteristics of the eco homes include low-flush toilets and flow restrictors on taps to save water.
Linda Randall, a green homes assessor for the Housing Corporation, told 24dash.com that the 'excellent' score reflects "the due care and attention to detail that went into this development".
Magna's representative, Mark Mabey, added that the eco homes site is the housing association's first to achieve the rating, thereby marking a milestone in the organisation's objective to provide new green homes "that are sustainable".
In other recent eco homes news, Norwich residents successfully lobbied for approval of plans for a small-scale 'eco village' in Ilketshall St Andrew, with houses in the development set to feature heavy-duty insulation and double glazing windows.
