Double glazing and cavity wall insulation have been touted as "great investments" for any building-owner wanting to save both money and the environment.
Speaking to Morecambe Today, the green gurus behind an environmentally-friendly makeover at a Lancaster youth club advocated the additions for their economical and environmental benefits.
Tim Hamilton-Cox, a spokesperson for advice group Local and Effective Sustainable Solutions (Less), said Lancaster Boys' Club had saved hundreds of pounds on electricity bills as a result of its green tweaks.
In a report compiled to recommend ways in which to improve the club's efficiency, Mr Hamilton-Cox observed: "Double-glazing and cavity wall insulation would be great investments; and lower cost measures, such as draughtproofing doors and point-of-use water heaters, would also result in significant savings."
Last year, the National Insulation Association confirmed that installing insulation and double glazing is one of the best ways to lower energy bills and help the environment.
Double glazing is proven to save heat and energy lost through poorly-insulated windows and doors. With Energy Efficiency windows and doors as standard, homeowners can now save even more on their heating bills and reduce their carbon footprint.
