A Buckinghamshire couple have opted for double glazing and other energy-saving measures to combat rising utility costs.

Chardon residents Peter and Anne Watts decided to get double glazing as a means of improving their property's insulation, as well as boosting its green credentials.

"When the house was built, the windows had a narrow gap between the panes," Anne remarked to The Bucks Herald.

She went on to explain that, as well as investing in replacement windows, she and her husband "have also had the gap filled with argon gas, which is more efficient than a vacuum".

Other measures taken by the pair include the installation of an air source heat pump and solar panels - renewable energy providers which are popular with many owners of green homes.

News of Buckinghamshire's latest eco home follows a report from the Yorkshire Post suggesting that planet-conscious home improvements - like the installation of double glazing windows - can affect the value of a property and make it more attractive to buyers.

According to the paper, more house-hunters are prioritising environmentally-friendly features like insulation over "cosmetic" tweaks.

Double glazing windows and doors can increase the value of your property, as well as saving you money on your heating bills. Take a look at some of the Energy Efficiency-certified windows and doors on the Safestyle website.
