Council homes in Swansea are to become more secure and more eco-friendly with the installation of uPVC double glazed windows, it has emerged.
More than 470 homes are set to benefit from the million-pound upgrade scheme, organised by Swansea Council.
The programme began in 1997 after a survey of the council's housing stock.
"We are delighted to be involved in delivering the authority's commitment to providing suitable modern and thermally-efficient windows to its tenants," Martin Nicholls, head of service for corporate building services at the council, told News Wales.
A recent poll of homeowners in the UK by Good Housekeeping revealed that 39 per cent have taken steps to increase security at their property.
Installing double glazing or lockable uPVC frames and doors can help make a home more secure against burglary and more energy-efficient.
