A derelict Scottish cottage has been transformed into a comfortable family home with double glazing and under-floor heating.
Periwinkle Cottage in Barrelwell, between Dundee and Aberdeen, was neglected until 2001 when its owners realised it could be renovated, reports the Aberdeen Press and Journal.
Now the cottage boasts a range of features such as exposed beams, a cathedral ceiling, spiral staircase and a luxury ensuite bathroom.
The two-bedroom home also has a lounge and a living-dining room.
As well as being luxurious, the property is also energy-efficient with economical double glazing and LPG heating, according to the publication.
Barrelwell is a hamlet within close commuting distance of Forfar and Brechin, both of which have primary and secondary schools, plus a range of amenities such as shops and medical practices.
According to a recent survey by Norwich and Peterborough Building Society, 69 per cent of people are more likely to install energy-efficient measures in their homes than they were this time last year.
Eighty-seven per cent said they would include features such as solar panels and wind turbines in their homes.
Double glazing windows and doors significantly reduce noise levels inside your home. With Energy Efficiency windows and doors as standard, homeowners can now save even more on their heating bills and reduce their carbon footprint.
