Residents of a dilapidated Oxford housing estate have expressed their delight at the prospect of moving into new homes with double glazing and "a bit more warmth".
The Oxford Mail reports that the Rose Hill area's post-war 'Orlit' houses were designed to last just a decade, with residents currently feeling the effects of inadequate windows and insulation.
Under regeneration plans, 254 new houses are to be built over the next four years, with the first five scheduled for completion in the autumn and a further 19 by the end of this year.
"We have waited a long time for this - it will be nice to move into somewhere with double glazing and a bit more warmth," 72-year-old Joan Spiers told her local newspaper.
Ripon eco-campaigner Adrian Whitling recently called for more of the nation's older terraced houses to have energy-efficient upvc windows.
He cited less noise pollution and improved home security as additional benefits to the window models, which also provide ease of cleaning and "controlled ventilation".
With Energy Efficiency products supplied as standard, home owners can now save even more on their heating bills and reduce their carbon footprint. Visit the Safestyle website to see a range of top quality uPVC double glazed products to suit your home.
