Latest Double Glazing News

Homeowners have been given a number of DIY tips that will improve their home’s insulation and therefore keep the house warm. These range from having a new boiler fitted to fitting double glazing. Most of those tips also aim at helping homeowners reduce their property’s carbon footprint as home improvement work such as installing double glazing generates considerable energy savings.

According to Graham Henry, writing for the South Wales Echo, making a few home improvements could not only add some much needed comfort to properties, but also save money on energy bills. This is typically the case of double glazing that not only contributes to keeping the heat inside the building, but also generates invaluable savings on energy bills.

He explained that one thing DIYers could do is install loft insulation. Even adding a small amount to their current insulation could contribute to big savings. However, he also recommends fitting double glazing because this type of window will contribute further to keep the house warm and reduce energy bills.

In addition, insulation will make a big difference to keeping heat in the home and reducing the need to have the radiators on.

Furthermore, cavity wall insulation could also be beneficial and do a similar job, he stated, while fitting a jacket on the water tank is also recommended.

He added that draught proofing is important, as well as fitting double glazing.
Fitting double glazing will not only make the house more weatherproof, it will also reduce energy bills and enhance a property’s looks.

It wasalso recently advised by Confused.com that homeowners seal gaps in their houses and fix broken drain covers to reduce the risk of rats heading into the property to get out of the cold weather.
