A multimillion-pound project to boost the energy efficiency of households in Runcorn and Widnes has been completed. This scheme included fitting double glazed windows and energy saving boilers.
The £85 million scheme has seen improvements, such as the installation of double glazing windows and energy efficient boilers, carried out in thousands of former Halton Council homes, the Runcorn and Widnes reported.
Nick Atkin, chief executive of Halton Housing Trust, said: "This has been the first phase of our major investment that has injected millions of pounds into improving the quality of neighbourhoods in Widnes and Runcorn. The first step we took to improve the standard of the houses in Runcorn was to fit double glazing.”
"Everyone has had a collective focus on raising the standard of our customers' homes."
Under the scheme, 30,000 double glazing windows, 2,667 energy efficient boilers and 729 central heating systems have been installed along with more than 5,000 electrical upgrades.
Insulation has also been enhanced for 4,421 property owners. This in addition to the double glazing windows would greatly improve the quality of the homes.
Work on the scheme commenced nearly almost four years and has finished 14 months ahead of schedule
