The National Landlords' Association (NLA) has reminded its members that eco homes earn tax breaks, it has been reported.
Landlords are being urged by the NLA to make use of the Landlord's Energy Saving Allowance (LESA), according to Home Move UK.
It allows landlords to claim tax relief against the cost of home improvements such as the installation of loft, floor and cavity wall insulation.
The maximum claim per property is £1,500 which can earn a tax break of £600 for someone on a higher rate of income tax, according to the NLA which represents the interest of private residential landlords in the UK.
Meanwhile, DIY specialist B&Q claimed last month that the introduction of Home Information Packs (Hips) has led a growing number of people to carry out eco-friendly home improvements.
The firm revealed estate agents had noted that more buyers are demanding features such as energy-efficient insulation and airtight windows and doors.
- Double glazing is proven to save heat and energy lost through poorly-insulated windows and doors. With Energy Efficiency windows and doors as standard, homeowners can now save even more on their heating bills and reduce their carbon footprint.
