Two Edinburgh tower blocks have received a £3.4million home improvements makeover, it has been reported.
A scheme to breathe life back into the Dumbiedykes estate located next to the Scottish Parliament has been completed, according to the Edinburgh Evening News.
The council footed most of the bill for the work which featured a number of home improvements including external insulation and double glazing to help improve the buildings energy efficiency while reducing heating costs.
Liz Walker, a spokeswoman for the estate, told the publication: "It is looking absolutely beautiful and I'm sure every resident is very happy with how the buildings look now. It's been a long-time coming but the workforce have done an excellent job."
Colin Taylor, Senior surveyor in housing property services, added the improvements have increased the properties value and negotiations were underway to carry out similar work on the cities other flats.
It was reported in the Independent last week that double glazing windows and energy-saving lightbulbs can help in the global battle to become less reliant on oil.
Double glazing windows and doors can increase the value of your property, as well as saving you money on your heating bills. Take a look at some of the Energy Efficiency-certified windows and doors on the Safestyle website.
