Landlords of buy-to-let homes are being encouraged to make home improvements to turn their properties into eco homes, it has been reported.
A new EU directive will come into force on October 1st making it compulsory to have Energy Performance Certificates (EPC) for all new tenancies signed after this date, according to Citywire.
The report says landlords can apply for grants of up to 100 per cent of the cost of home improvements to boost a property's energy efficiency.
"Landlords should consider energy efficiency improvements such as cavity wall insulation, low energy lighting, thermostatic valves on radiators, loft insulation, double glazing, and condensing boilers," it added.
The EPC certificate will rate a property on its energy efficiency and carbon emissions from A (very efficient) to G (very inefficient).
With Energy Efficiency windows supplied as standard, homeowners can now save even more on their heating bills and reduce their carbon footprint. Visit the Safestyle website to see a range of top quality double glazed windows to suit your home.
