My Place, the self-professed 'greenest estate agent in London', is drawing attention to the benefits of making properties green prior to selling them.
Managing director Chris Kelly told the Telegraph that both vendors and purchasers are increasingly concerned about the impact of dwellings on the environment, especially with the introduction of compulsory Home Information Packs (Hips).
"Estate agents are in a unique position, at the start and finish of the home-owning process, to advise buyers and sellers on how to make their homes more energy-efficient," Mr Kelly told the newspaper.
"We've all got to try and do our bit," he insisted, pointing out that London's homes currently account for 40 per cent of the capital's carbon emissions.
According to Mr Kelly, My Place offer exhaustive information about improving energy efficiency through such measures as insulation and taking out a green mortgage.
And many analysts expect other estate agents to follows suit, especially given recent research from the Campaign for Architecture and the Built Environment which found that 84 per cent of prospective homeowners would pay extra for a green home.
