Homeowners in Scotland are to get more funding for eco-friendly home improvements, it has emerged.
The country's finance secretary, John Swinney, revealed that £13.5 million per year will be made available for the next three years so that householders, small businesses and local communities can generate their own green energy via heat pumps, solar panels and windmills.
"Everyone has a part to play and the Scottish government is providing strong leadership by tripling funding support to encourage householders, businesses and community projects to generate their own renewable energy," said Mr Swinney of the home improvements cash.
He explained that under the proposals, householders will be able to access grants of up to £4,000 and community groups up to £100,000 for fitting alternative energy sources.
Government officials recently unveiled plans to make planet-friendly home improvements easier across the UK by removing the need for planning permission in a wider range of circumstances.
People applying for grants in Scotland are expected to demonstrate that they are minimising their energy demands as much as possible via measures such as double glazing or improved insulation.
Double glazing windows and doors can increase the value of your property, as well as saving you money on your heating bills. Take a look at some of the Energy Efficiency-certified windows and doors on the Safestyle website.
