An increasing number of people are realising the value-boosting benefits of green homes, it has been suggested.
Property expert Mark Goddard singled out efficient heating systems, double glazing and low-energy lighting as just a few of the features which can attract potential house buyers and drive up a building's market value.
"The environmental credentials of a property, particularly energy efficiency, [are] becoming an increasingly important part of its value and the introduction of Home Information Packs is helping to focus home movers on the green issue," he told Estate Agency News.
He went on to point out that zero-carbon homes are exempt from Stamp Duty, further boosting their attractiveness for keen buyers.
In addition, a favourable Energy Performance Certificate indicates improved energy efficiency, which can have a positive impact on the cost of gas, electricity and heating oil.
Mr Goddard concluded by referring to the increased prominence of individual carbon footprints, which feature highly in media coverage of climate change and global environmental concerns.
Double glazing windows and doors can increase the value of your property, as well as saving you money on your heating bills. Take a look at some of the Energy Efficiency-certified windows and doors on the Safestyle website.
