One developer is planning to build a new green homes student residence project for a Leeds university, it has been reported.
Student-accommodation provider University Partnerships Programme is to design, build, finance and operate the major eco homes project for Leeds Metropolitan University, according to Property Week.
The £26 million "eco-residence scheme" will be called Carnegie Village and is to be built on the university's Headlingley campus, providing 479 rooms for students.
Sean O'Shea, managing director of the firm, told the publication solid financial foundations were in place for the partnership, which marks the company's second such project.
"Leeds Metropolitan has also adopted the eco-residence design that is currently flourishing at Lancaster University and in development at other UPP schemes. It marks a major step forward in sustainability and energy efficiency," he added.
Work has begun on the site and is expected to be completed by August 2009.
