An eco homes scheme unveiled 14 green homes in Brighton and Hove this weekend (July 5th), it has been reported.
The green homes were opened to the public through the 'eco open houses scheme' in a bid to inspire householders to improve the energy-efficiency of their properties, according to the Green Building Press.
It is being coordinated by Brighton and Hove city council, the Low Carbon Trust and Brighton Permaculture Trust.
Louise Bloom, vice-chair of the South East England Regional Assembly, told the website half of the eco homes being showcased are older properties highlighting what people can do to their own houses.
"Eco design is very sexy, but it's good to see what ordinary householders can do. The majority of our housing is old, so it's important to put across the message that a lot can be done to improve it," she added.
In other eco homes news, it was reported earlier in the week by PropertyWeek.com that a green homes development has been approved in the Kent town of Ashford.
Zed Homes have been granted planning permission for a housing scheme to build 1,000 eco homes apartments in the town centre.
Double glazing windows and doors can increase the value of your property, as well as saving you money on your heating bills. Take a look at some of the Energy Efficiency-certified windows and doors on the Safestyle website.
