The Veolia ES Cleanaway Pitsea Marshes Trust is funding the refurbishment work on the scouts’ hall so that the 1st Pitsea and Vange Scout Group can carry on with its activities in a new energy efficient hall. The hall will be rebuilt using energy efficient materials like uPVC windows and cavity wall insulation.

The alterations to the hall will make a huge difference, because it has not been refurbished since it was built. The new uPVC windows, the new wall insulation and the new floors will turn into a more a comfortable place for the Scouts to meet in.

60 scouts, cubs and beavers use the hut on a weekly basis.

It is also hoped that other groups in the community will also use the hall when the scouts are not using it.
Refurbishment work on the hall has already started and it is hoped that it will completed within weeks.

The refurbishment work will start with the installation of uPVC windows and the replacement of the old wall insulation by new cavity wall insulaiton.

Once the refurbishment work on the hall has been completed, the scouts group has asked students from on the post-16 education program, Skills for Life, to decorate and fit out the hall. The students will also receive help from people doing community work with the Probation Service.

The involvement of all these groups around refurbishing the scout’s hutt shows how important a role the group plays in the community as it provides young people in Pitsea and Vange with opportunities and interest.
