The forthcoming Ecobuild event held in Earl’s Court from 2nd to the 4th March in London promises to showcase the latest developments in window energy efficiency and performance.
The Energy Saving Trust states that unnecessary heat loss through windows can be cut in half, at the same time helping to reduce home and business energy bills by approximately £135 and cutting harmful carbon emissions by 720kg a year. A seminar at the Ecobuild event will shed light on window energy efficiency performance with regards to insulation and sustainability; this will be presented by the Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF).
The GGF deputy chief executive Ian Chisholm explained that it was important for consumers and industry professionals to be aware of the environmental benefits to be had when replacing windows and doors. This is largely because of the Building Regulation changes taking place sometime this year.
The BFRC Scheme, the UK’s national system for rating the energy efficiency of windows, states that UPVC windows that have a high energy rating (A, B or C) are great at conserving heat, keeping out the wind, improve sound insulation and prevent condensation.
