People looking at putting their property on the market should take care to ensure that it is presented in the best possible way to persuade potential buyers that it is a must-buy, according to a leading residential agent.
Hamptons International has published ten ways in which sellers can turn their asset into a dream home for viewers, stating that spring is an ideal time to display a property.
Adding a lick of paint – preferably a neutral colour – to walls and ceilings, removal of all clutter and clearing of curtains or blinds to allow the sun to pour through windows are all recommended.
Ian Westerling, sales director at Hamptons International, said: "While spring might be the traditional time to give the home a refresh, it is also a shrewd move for potential sellers.
"Those who present their home to the best of its abilities are significantly more likely to sell it faster and with a higher number of offers."
The news follows yesterday's finding by estate agent haart that eight out of ten estate agents believe homes fitted with energy saving measures will be more saleable than those without after the implementation of home information packs on June 1st.
