Rugby residents are fighting a hotel's plans to invite Ricky Hatton and other big-name acts to their village over fears of the noise pollution it could create, it has been reported.
Princethorpe's Woodhouse Hotel has put in an application request to Rugby borough council to erect marquees to host a new series of events, according to the Kenilworth Weekly News.
Big names in the entertainment world - including Sir Alex Ferguson, the Stylistics, the Drifters and the Manchester-born IBO Light Welterweight boxing champion - are being advertised at the proposed venue.
Hotelier Prav Pattni told the publication if given the go-ahead, the scheme could create 14 full-time and 54 part-time jobs in the area.
Speaking to the local newspaper, Diane Whitehouse, of Burnthurst Lane, said the noise pollution from a recent Supremes concert was "horrendous".
"The application is so wide it feels like they are trying to slip a nightclub into rural Warwickshire - there's a complete lack of empathy," added another resident, Bill Lilly.
