The introduction of home information packs (Hips) could reduce the stress that homeowners feel when moving between properties, according to one organisation.
Moving house can be one of the most stressful things people in the UK can do, according to the Association of Home Information Pack Providers (Ahipp), which said that it ranks only behind ill health, relationship breakdown and bereavement in terms of emotional strain.
However, according to Mike Ockenden of Ahipp, when Hips are introduced on June 1st, the process of exchanging contracts will become much smoother.
"Hips will undoubtedly have the benefit of reducing stress levels for home buyers and sellers across the UK and as a result, this could potentially translate into a huge benefit, not only for the consumer but for the wider economy," he said.
The comments come after figures from the Woolwich revealed that the average cost of selling a house has dropped from £5,181 last year to £4,666 this year.
Those looking to increase the value of their property before selling might find that installing double glazing can help.
