The importance of safe home improvements was underlined recently as a firm was prosecuted for breaching health and safety laws.
Home improvements firm Everest was fined £6,000 and ordered to pay over £15,000 in costs at Luton magistrates court after pleading guilty to breaching the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Work at Height Regulations 2005.
On July 14th, a Health and safety Executive (HSE) inspector passed residential properties where the firm's workers were carrying out refurbishment work while working at heights without sufficient protection.
Following the incident, the HSE warned that firms face robust enforcement action if workers' safety is not properly safeguarded.
