Insulation and double glazing are being touted as ways to "slash your energy bill", according to one source.

The Mirror reports that as energy bills are about to increase by £400 a year, homeowners should take advantage of money and energy saving tips in order to cut back on expenses.

According to the publication almost one fifth (20 per cent) of heat is lost through windows, "so get double glazing, or consider retro-fitting double-glazed panes to standard wooden frames.

"That way, you keep original features and stay warm in winter."

It added properties lose up to one third (33 per cent) of heat through walls and by installing insulation households can save up to £140 per year on bills for a typical three-bed semi.

Meanwhile, a cabinet minister said earlier this month that reduced-cost loans should be introduced to support home improvements for energy-inefficient houses.

Hilary Benn revealed a new government strategy at an environmental conference aimed at saving energy and the climate.

With Energy Efficiency products supplied as standard, homeowners can now save even more on their heating bills and reduce their carbon footprint. Visit the Safestyle website to see a range of top quality double glazed patio doors to suit your home.
