One leading finance website is emphasising the importance of energy efficiency to UK homeowners.
The Fair Investment Company notes that improvements such as replacing old boilers or installing double glazing insulation can significantly cut greenhouse gas emissions.
Such CO2 emissions contribute to global warming and so have a devastating impact on the world's social and economic wellbeing - prompting FIC director James Caldwell to say that all improvements, no matter how small, should be recognised as having a real impact.
He added that investing in green improvements also makes sound commercial sense: "With the introduction of Home Information Packs (Hips) - which require properties on the market to have an up to date Energy Performance Certificate - many people will be going to the expense of fixing up their homes to make them more energy efficient."
Mortgage broker London and Country recently claimed that the introduction of Hips had succeeded in making the general public more aware of their impact on the environment.
