Thousands of insulated households in Oxford could be eligible for a rebate on their council tax following the launch of a new scheme from the city's council, it has been announced.
Homeowners with insulated roofs and wall cavities could receive rebates of £50 on their council, tax, officials have announced.
The scheme will only apply to those who have yet to take such measures, with 44,000 residences currently eligible for the offer, according to the Oxford Mail.
"The great thing about this scheme is that it helps the environment and it helps tackle the issue of fuel poverty," commented Oxford City Council leader John Goddard.
"It's also important for people to know that anyone over the age of 60 is eligible for free insulation and next year anyone with children under five will also get it free," added councillor Craig Simmonsok.
Earlier this week MEP Jean Lambert called for more homes to insulate their roofs and walls in order to help limit domestic emissions.
