British bosses have been reminded that insulation is one of a number of energy-efficient ways to bring down gas and electricity bills.
Emily Farnsworth, corporate engagement director of the Climate Group, pointed out that introducing green measures can ultimately lead to cheaper operational costs.
In an article for ClimateChangeCorp.com, she also noted that many mainstream firms are not availing of the economic and environmental opportunities presented by insulation and other energy-saving investments.
"Measures like insulating buildings and upgrading ancient air conditioning units will save cash even if it means spending a bit in the first year or so," Ms Farnsworth explained.
She added that ascertaining areas of energy waste and dealing with them, perhaps through insulation or double glazing, can "really reduce the operating costs of a manufacturing site or division".
This month, London mayor Ken Livingstone laid out plans to cut carbon emissions and save money in the capital by making improved insulation available to the managers of the capital's public buildings.
