George Clarke who is the presenter of Channel 4’s The Home Show and The Restoration Man did an interview with the Daily Telegraph and explained that when all the potential savings are considered, every house in the country should be double glazed. The property expert has provided advice to consumers on how to make their homes more energy efficient and how they can save money on bills.
He highlighted the fact that there was a perception that eco-designed homes are new-builds that have modern high-tech features, but in fact all homes will need to become energy efficient if we were to fulfil our obligations to the Kyoto Protocol.
He insisted that just with roof insulation and double glazing alone, noticeable money savings can be made. Mr Clarke also noted that the costs of loft insulation can be recouped within two to three years through reduced energy bills, and added that un-insulated cavity walls can be almost as wasteful as un-insulated lofts.
