Building work at a north London school has caused one local resident to install double glazing to reduce the noise pollution in his home, it has been reported.

Homeowners living near Coleridge School's new site in Crouch End are complaining about the noise and mess being made as a result of the school's expansion work, according to the Hornsey and Crouch End Journal.

Residents have complained to their borough council about the £7.5 million construction site on Haslemere Road, which is set to be completed by September.

The Haslemere Road Residents' Association has lobbied the council about the problems.

Sue Hessel, chairwoman of the Haslemere Road Residents' Association, told the publication: "It has been horrendous. They have had 30 lorries a day trundling up and down the roads.

"One of the neighbours had to put in double glazing because of the noise."

Meanwhile, earlier in the month a Lanarkshire woman was fined for repeatedly violating noise pollution laws.

Anne Nelson, 23, was issued with a £100 fixed penalty at East Kilbride district court after three separate incidents were reported by her neighbours in the same night.
