Four out of five homeowners intend to invest in energy efficient home improvements over the next 12 months, it has been advised.
A B & Q spokesman has said that improvements ranged from microgeneration technologies to insulation, with the latter providing especially good value.
"Insulation is one of the cheapest, easiest and most efficient ways to improve the energy efficiency of your home […] the average UK home can be insulated for only around £300 and you can recoup this money and more within 2-5 years," the spokesman commented.
"Latest figures show that installing loft installation in a virgin loft can pay for itself in around one year. Topping up your loft insulation can pay for itself in four to five years.
Meanwhile the Home Inspector Forum has advised that Home information packs (Hips), designed to in part assess how energy-efficient a home is, could be brought in for three-bedroom properties as soon as August 1st. The date is currently set to see properties with four bedrooms or more require the packs.
