The majority of Brits believe that if everyone made more of an effort with the environment it would have a major impact, it has been reported.

A survey for the Ideal Home Show found that 57 per cent of people think that if everyone did their bit, it would make a real difference to the environment, the Press Association says.

However, the study also showed that 78 per cent believe that not everyone is making enough effort.

It found that most of those questioned believed that they were doing enough to curb their carbon footprint, with 83 per cent saying they were environmentally-friendly.

Oliver Heath, of the Ideal Home Show, told the news agency that Brits need to "have more confidence" in the efforts that were being made throughout the country.

According to the research 83 per cent of respondents recycle paper, glass and plastic while 90 per cent claimed to fill the kettle with just the amount they needed.
