A Bedfordshire eco home development targeted at first time buyers will feature double glazing as standard.

The Greenacres development, in Stotfold, creates a "tranquil town setting" according to its developers.

Developer George Wimpey claims the new project - which comprises of 44 homes - offers a "high standard specification" that includes double glazing windows, central heating and a fitted kitchen.

The town is a home to a wide range of shops and businesses for everyday needs and is a ten-minute drive from nearby Letchworth, which offers a "vibrant leisure scene" including sports facilities, cinemas, cafes, fashionable bars and restaurants.

A company statement said: "[The] easymover programme offers a range of special incentives on selected properties including support for first time buyers - while customers with a house to sell can reserve their new home and then sit back and relax while the housebuilder helps to find a buyer for their current property."

Meanwhile, a Leicester home dubbed the Eco House has been showing people they can all save money while protecting the planet, according to the Melton Times.

The former park keeper's cottage in Weston Park is run by environmental charity Groundworks as a demonstration of energy-efficient living.
