Barclays has announced the launch of a new green credit card, aiming to attract environmentally concerned consumers to its product range and offering insulation discounts as part of its offering.
The new Breathe card will see half the profits donated to the fight against climate change, Barclays has said.
Discounts on insulation and home energy are among the features of the card, though some analysts remain sceptical.
"You could argue that it would be better to grab yourself the best deal, save money on interest and use this cost saving to donate to your own chosen cause," advised Moneyfacts.co.uk analyst Michelle Slade, speaking to the Guardian.
However, the paper also reported that MoneyExpert.com chief executive Sean Gardner had called the card "a genuine breath of fresh air".
Homeowners are increasingly turning to home improvements in order to make their properties more environmentally friendly, research revealed last month.
