Plans for a town of eco-homes in Scotland are expected to be unveiled later this year, it has been claimed.
An application for the 1200-acre site in Cardenden is likely to be put forward in the autumn, according to the Sunday Herald.
Colin Anderson, managing director of Banks Development, said that sustainability is "increasingly at the centre of both building design and our everyday lives".
These proposals are expected to set new standards for the development of zero-carbon eco-home projects in the country, he added.
"Sustainable, high-quality communities such as this will make a significant contribution to creating the prosperous and low-carbon Scottish economy that is the country's stated future ambition," he explained.
In related news, a recent survey by the Homebuyer and Property Investor Show revealed that 55 per cent of property buyers would prefer a home that offered environmentally-features.
The researchers said that it is "important" for sellers to now consider ways of saving energy in their homes, as this may help to attract buyers.
With Energy Efficiency windows supplied as standard, homeowners can now save even more on their heating bills and reduce their carbon footprint. Visit the Safestyle website to see a range of top quality double glazed windows to suit your home.
