A new development of eco homes has had its official opening in Norfolk, it has emerged.

The Bodham project features ten green homes which were completed in February this year.

According to 24dash.com, objections to the scheme had been raised but were overruled after officials decided to target the houses at people from the local area only.

"We need more schemes like this in north Norfolk, where so many rural communities are in danger of losing young families and people who have grown up there but can't stay because of a lack of suitable accommodation," councillor John Perry-Warnes remarked.

He continued: "The history of this scheme's development at Bodham is a great example of how communities, their representatives and housing providers can work together to tackle problems and give a village a chance to retain its unique character."

The news provider notes that the new homes have achieved an eco-rating equivalent to 'very good' after being constructed using high levels of insulation.

Another green homes community in Cambridgeshire moved into its next stage of development last week, after also facing initial doubts over its progression.

Hanley Grange will feature at least 6,500 eco homes, many of which are expected to be affordable.
