Residents in Northern Ireland can now join the rest of the UK in reaping the financial benefits of home improvements such as double glazing, insulation and low-carbon heating, thanks to a new 'solar mortgage'.
The country's Ulster Bank is carrying out a trial of the mortgages, which offer 50 per cent discounts over three years to new and existing customers who install solar panels.
Other 'energy mortgages' currently gracing the market in order to reward people who opt for energy-saving home improvements include those offered by the Co-operative Bank.
Paul King of the UK Green Building Council recently lauded the products for providing a special rate for borrowers who want to fund green home improvements.
"Schemes such as this, which make energy efficiency improvements easier and more affordable, are vital if we are to get to grips with the UK's energy-hungry and carbon-intensive housing stock," he remarked in November.
Other lenders which currently offer eco-friendly financial products - for which the installation of double glazing or replacement windows can make a homeowner eligible - include Halifax, the Norwich & Peterborough Building Society and the Ecology Building Society.
With Energy Efficiency windows supplied as standard, homeowners can now save even more on their heating bills and reduce their carbon footprint. Visit the Safestyle website to see a range of top quality double glazed uPVCreplacement windows to suit your home
