A new scheme aimed at reducing noise pollution in Norwich city centre has been launched, with advisors hoping that both the quality of life and environment will benefit as a result.
A new centre to which deliveries can be transferred is to be set up on the A11, the Norwich Evening News has advised, with low emissions vehicles on hand to transport goods into the town itself.
The scheme is part of the Civitas initiative, funded by the European Union, which aims to provide more eco-friendly transport to cities.
"This freight centre is a great opportunity for businesses to help protect their local environment and ease congestion outside their stores. By working together, real benefits can be achieved, and I would urge businesses to investigate whether the scheme can help them, and in turn, help the city of Norwich," advised Norfolk County Council member Adrian Gunson.
Homeowners looking to safeguard their property against noise from the road can invest in noise reducing technologies.
