The younger generation is likely to place energy efficiency higher up the agenda in future home purchases, new research has revealed.
Some 15 per cent of people aged between 12 and 21 told the Coventry-based Whitefriars Housing Group that they would only ever consider moving into a property if it had quantifiable green features.
These would likely include the presence of double glazing insulation as well as on-site renewable generators such as photovoltaic solar panels - both of which minimise dependency on harmful fossil fuels.
Eight out of ten of the respondents also revealed they would view having a garden as a favourable trait while a similar proportion expressed a desire to purchase a home that comes already furnished with electrical goods.
Donna Watson, customer involvement officer at Whitefriars, explained told 24dash.com: "The survey provided us with a lot of good information on what the next generation of our potential customers wants from their home and landlord."
New research by the Co-operative Bank showed that 68 per cent of British homeowners have already installed carbon-reducing technologies in their dwelling.
