The owners of a top hotel in Cardiff have complained about the effects of noise pollution caused by revellers in the area.
According to the South Wales Echo, the four-star Cardiff Park Plaza is surrounded by a number of bars and nightclubs including Oceana, Varsity and Tiger Tiger.
Guests whose rooms face the thriving social hub have issued complaints about noise pollution, including that caused by taxi drivers beeping their horns, cleaning contractors operating in the early hours of the morning and the use of a loudspeaker outside one of the clubs.
"Many guests who experience the noise refuse to stay at the hotel again, or if they return request rooms at the back," explained a representative for the Park Plaza.
"This is now creating problems for the hotel as they have a huge number of regular guests who refuse to have rooms at the front."
A spokesperson for the hotel also pointed out that although all windows in the rooms have double glazing, secondary glazing was installed within six months of the hotel opening.
Ahead of a new environmental noise directive from the European Commission this year, officials recently announced plans to map the areas of Britain most affected by noise pollution.
