A young Lanarkshire woman has been fined for a night of repeated noise pollution violations, it has been reported.
On the night of November 4th 2007, Anne Nelson's home was visited by council officials on three separate occasions after she repeatedly ignored noise pollution warnings, according to East Kilbride News.
Ms Nelson was eventually issued with a £100 fixed penalty and had her "noise-making" equipment seized but due to her failure to pay the fine she was ordered to appear in East Kilbride district court where she admitted breaching antisocial behaviour laws.
Fining 23-year-old Nelson £120, Justice Mrs Anne Berney said she would have been more sympathetic had the accused not ignored police warnings.
"Noise pollution affects a lot of people and disturbs the life of a lot of people and everyone needs to be sensitive towards that, no matter what the circumstances," Mrs Berney added.
Meanwhile, new rules came into force in April to restrict the levels of noise outside the nation's pubs between 11pm and 7am.
Pub licensee holders who do not apply to the new measures will face strict fines.
