A scheme to measure the levels of noise pollution caused by a temporary Wiltshire skate park is taking place this month to assess whether a more permanent area could be built, it has been reported.
Malmesbury's local authorities aim to prove through the experiment that a dedicated skating area, which was first requested more than a decade ago, at Cotswold House will not cause any noise pollution, according to the Wiltshire Times.
The temporary park's noise levels will be monitored over the course of the next month by an independent company and if the scheme finds no detrimental levels of noise pollution is caused plans for a fixed park will be approved.
David Whewell, head of youth work for Wiltshire county council, told the newspaper this project is the local youth's number one priority so it must be delivered.
"I feel strongly that we must base any planning application on fact, rather than perceptions. Young people are a part of this community and deserve our support," he added.
Meanwhile, the East Anglian Daily Times reported last month that Suffolk residents are opposing plans for a second runway at Stansted Airport over concerns of the noise pollution it could create.
