The expansion of airports inflicts noise pollution and misery on local communities, one green pressure group has said.
Airportwatch Scotland plans to meet for the first time this week to organise its campaign of action against the expansion of Scotland's airports, it has been reported.
The new group aims to unite national environmental organisations, airport groups and those who oppose unsustainable aviation expansion.
Sophie Temple Preston, one of the organisers, told the Sunday Herald: "New airports must be stopped from blighting communities with noise, pollution and misery."
The group is linked to Stop Climate Chaos Scotland, which has launched a campaign to impose tougher action against noise pollution and carbon emissions that cause climate change.
Stop Climate Chaos Scotland is a coalition of more than 30 environment, development, faith and community groups, which the publication reports has a combined support of 1.5 million people.
